Black Lives Matter and Substance Abuse (Specialty Credit Bundle)

Toni Jaramilla--in conversation with Dr. Melina Abdullah, Professor and former Chair of CSULA Pan African Studies, and co-founder of Black Lives Matter--Los Angeles, to discuss the global Black Lives Matter movement and how we, as attorneys and activists, can remain unified and engaged in the fight against racial injustice.

The incidence of substance abuse and mental health issues is greater for attorneys than it is for most other professions. In these isolating times, healthy coping strategies are at a premium. CELA members will share glimpses of their recovery and how they have not only survived but thrived despite these challenges. A representative from the Lawyer Assistance Program will also discuss why attorneys are so at risk and will share resources that the California Bar has made available to you.
